A volunteer education and solidarity initiative

Community guidelines and safety

We expect everyone who takes part in ELMYOLU to follow these guidelines. Children’s safety comes first.

Working with children

  • All contact about students under 18 goes through a parent or legal guardian.
  • Teachers must not message children privately without the parent’s knowledge.
  • Never ask a child for their address, photos, phone number or other personal information.
  • We recommend holding online lessons where a parent can see, and that a parent attends the first lessons.
  • In-person lessons should take place only with the parent’s consent, in a public place or one the family has agreed to.

Respectful communication

  • Insults, discrimination, pressure and threats are not accepted.
  • Contact details must not be used for anything other than lessons and support.
  • Advertising, selling and requests for payment are not allowed. Everything at ELMYOLU is free.

Listings and information

  • Listings must be accurate and relate only to educational needs.
  • Do not share children’s names, photos, exact addresses, health information or bank details in listings.
  • False, unsafe or rule-breaking listings can be hidden and accounts can be closed.

Reporting a concern

If any behaviour worries you, use the feedback form or write to elmyolu@gmx.de. Reports are handled confidentially.

If a child’s life or health is in immediate danger, call your local emergency number straight away (112 in Azerbaijan and across the European Union).

Messages, video and group classes

  • Conversations take place only between a parent and a teacher, inside ELMYOLU. Do not share phone numbers, e-mail addresses or messenger links in messages.
  • Recording lessons or taking and sharing screenshots is not allowed.
  • In a group lesson children see each other’s faces and first names; this must not be shared outside the lesson.

When the guidelines are broken

A profile that breaks the guidelines can be hidden, lessons can be stopped and the account can be closed. If a child is in real danger, information may be passed to the relevant authorities.
