A volunteer education and solidarity initiative

Parent guide

From the request to the report: how lessons for your child are arranged.

The request

  1. Open an account and confirm your e-mail.
  2. On the “Learning support” page, choose the subject, grade, language, format and suitable times. Write only your child’s first name, not their surname or school.
  3. After you send it, we show you teachers who fit. You can choose one or leave the request open.

When a teacher is found

  • You get a notification and an e-mail when a teacher accepts.
  • The teacher suggests a lesson time and you confirm it in your account. A reminder arrives the day before.
  • Write your questions with the “Message the teacher” button on the lesson page.

During lessons

  • The video lesson opens on the lesson page 15 minutes before it starts. A computer or phone is enough; nothing needs to be installed.
  • Stay with your child, especially in the first lessons, or keep the door to the room open.
  • Lessons are not recorded. Please do not record them either.

Following progress

  • On the lesson page you see homework, quizzes and the teacher’s notes.
  • The “Progress report” puts all of this on one page that you can print.
  • For a group class, the report also shows how many lessons your child attended.

Group classes

  • The “Group classes” page lists open classes. Apply with your child’s first name and age group.
  • In a group lesson children see each other’s faces and first names. Your contact details are not shown to other families.

If you are worried

  • If a teacher’s behaviour worries you, write to us through the “Report a concern” link on the lesson page.
  • You can block a teacher: they will no longer see your requests or your child.
  • If there is immediate danger, call 112 straight away.
